Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota
The Sign Says it All

Anyone hunting for Americana in Minnesota absolutely must visit to Mall of America in Bloomington, a suburb of the Minneapolis / St. Paul metropolitan area (map). I will concede that it’s essentially just an overgrown mall, but what says more about America than its shopping mall culture?

I’ve probably seen just about every store at Mall of America somewhere else, but here it’s nearly every store I’ve ever seen anywhere else, all in one overgrown location. Our visit wasn’t about the shopping though, it was about the experience. I think maybe all we bought was dinner and a bottle opener.

It was impressive to see that it had its own RV park, though.
