NOTES PROVIDED IN THE ERLENKOTTER FAMILY RECORDS:

"Gideon GRINNELL moved to Farmington, NY in the 1790s, where he purchased 72 acres of land in lot 84 from Jared COMSTOCK on 1 December 1800 [Ontario County Deed Records, Book 46, p. 186]. This property adjoined that of his brother John. On 15 November 1813 Gideon and his wife Abigail of Farmington sold the remainder of this land to Timothy ALLEN [Ontario County Deed Records, Book 20, p. 32]. He then moved to Crawford County, PA."

"'Gidion GRINDLE' is listed as a head of household in the 1820 census at Fallowfield, Crawford County, PA... He appears just before George AUSTIN; also listed on the same census page are Humphry DENNEY, Amaziah WASCOT [sic], and James WAISTCOT."
