"... Seven children were born to [George HOUFSTATER and Elizabeth BARRE] on the homestead [Niagara County, New York], namely: Almira, Mary, David, Matilda and Fidelia (twins), Jacob and Catherine; Lucy Ann, the eighth child, was born in Huron county, Ohio, October 15, 1836. In 1836 the family moved to Ohio, and settled on the farm which is now the property of Jacob P. HOUFSTATER, which territory was then a complete wilderness."
