"At a regular communication of Grant Lodge, No. 196, F. A. M., at Boscobel, Nov. 18th, 1869, the following preamble and resolution were adopted: WHEREAS, It has pleased the Almighty Father of the Universe, in His wisdom, to remove to their rest our much beloved brethren, Chester B. SYLVESTER and Richard J. HILDEBRAND; therefore be it Resolved, that we have learned with sincere regret of the death of our faithful and zealous Brother Chester B. SYLVESTER, which took place in the jurisdiction of Ferrin Lodge No. 165, and we hereby tender our sympathy and mingle our sorrow with the relatives and friends of the deceased Brother. Resolved, That thanks of this Lodge are hereby tendered to Ferrin Lodge, No. 165 for the tender attention paid our brother during his illness and bestowing upon him Masonic funeral honors."

The SYLVESTER family tombstone lists several individuals including a Chester SYLVESTER, and the notation "Natives of Maine." He is recorded as "Chester Died Oct. 2 1869 Aged 55-5."
