"Funeral for Edna SYLVESTER OSBORNE Held Aug. 17th. Last rites for Edna SYLVESTER OSBORNE were held Thursday, Aug 17 at the Clark-Treloar chapel in Ogden, with Rev. Russell E. OTTO of the First Presbyterian Church of Boone officiating. Mrs. O. F. EHLERS was the pianist, and also accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Margaret WRIGHT, who sang 'He Hideth My Soul.' Bearers were R. O. BASS, H. L. BASS, D. O. CLARK, C. E. CHRISTENSEN, Rasmus JENSEN, and Alf JOHNSON. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery. Edna SYLVESTER was born in Ogden on October 9, 1871, the daughter of Caleb B. SYLVESTER and Elizabeth Chynoweth SYLVESTER, who came to Iowa in June 1870, joining a group of pioneers from Wisconsin, the CLARKs and WILLIAMS, who had arrived a few months earlier. She attended school at Ogden and in 1894 was graduated from Grinnell College, and taught at Ogden until the death of her father in 1899, when she took over the management of his insurance business. On December 6, 1910 she was married to John OSBORNE of Scranton, who preceded her in death a number of years ago. She had lived in California nearly 40 years, and died at Los Angeles on August 13, 1950. Her mother passed away just 40 years ago this month, on August 2, 1910. Mrs. OSBORNE was a devoted Christian, a life-long member of the Congregational Church, and a faithful worker in its various organizations. Survivors include three cousins, Mrs. W. D. MILLER, of Santa Ana, who accompanied the body from California, Dr. O. W. CLARK and S. P. CLARK of Ogden, several second cousins and other relatives."
