"BENJAMIN [SILVESTER], bp. Scituate 17 May 1657 [NEHGR 57:85]; m. by 1687 Mary STANDLAKE (first child b. Scituate 26 December 1687), daughter of Richard STANDLAKE [PLR 8:172-74, 207-208]. (Albert Henry SILVESTER claimed that Benjamin married first Lydia STANDLAKE, and then a second wife Mary ____, who might have been a sister of Lydia [NEHGR 85:264]. Aside from the extremely unliklihood of a seventeenth-century man having two wives who were sisters (based on the Biblical concepts of incest), there is no evidence that Benjamin had any wife other than Mary, and Mary's sister Lydia STANDLAKE married Isaac WOODWORTH, son of WALTER WOODWORTH)."

"The Wife of Benjamin-2 SILVESTER. -- In Deane's 'History of Scituate' and in Barry's 'History of Hanover," Mass., it is stated that Benjamin-2 SILVESTER, youngest son of Richard-1 SILVESTER, the immigrant, married in 1684 Lydia, daughter of Richard STANDLAKE; and, in the absence of any other evidence, this statement was repeated in SILVESTER genealogy, in the account there given of Benjamin SILVESTER (Register, vol. 85, p. 264), where, however, the date of the marriage was given as 'probably about 1686,' and the maiden name of Benjamin's wife (called his first wife) was said to be STANDLACK. But in the 'Plymouth Colony Records,' vol. 8, pp. 172-174, 'Deeds,' there is a recorded deed, dated 28 Apr. 1701, by which Lydia STANDLICK, widow of Richard STANDLICK, her three married daughters and their respective husbands, and an unmarried daughter sold real estate to David JACOB of Scituate... This deed seems definitively to prove that Benjamin SILVESTER married Mary STANDLICK (who, as far as is known, was his only wife)... It follows also that Mary (STANDLICK) SILVESTER was the mother of all of Benjamin SILVESTER's eight children."
