"Mr. Curtis SMITH, of La Grange, lately sold his farm near the water mill and having arranged matters for his wife soon to follow him by train, left her at the house of Mr. PRESCOTT of said town, and started for Nebraska, to seek a new home. He left Tomah on Tuesday, and the same night his wife died. On Wednesday about noon, Mr. Smith had arrived in Sparta, when he received news of his wife's death. He immediately returned to attend her funeral. Mrs. SMITH's health had not been good of late, yet her death was sudden and entirely unlooked for: 'Be ye also ready.'"
