Dear Cousin George,

I will now try and answer your most welcome letter that I received some time ago, have not had time to write before, was glad to hear that you was well heard that how met with an accident lately hope that when this reaches you will be well again. Met your old spark at Dancing School think her a fine old bunch of grapes. She told me that you had sprained your ankle. We are having awful cold weather here. The lake is full of ice, should not be surprised if there was an ice bridge across the river, have come very near having one. There is splendid sleighing here. Have been driving barley to town this week, finished yesterday. Am glad to hear that you have got a good job, would be glad to hear that you had a home of your own, think from your description of the country that I would like it down there first rate if I could sell out everything I has got I could raise $4000. I have let my farm for this summer and not know what I shall go at yet, should like to take a trip down here. Always wanted to go south, have thought of going to Tennessee. Have heard a great deal of talk about it, do not know as I shall go anywhere but am satisfied that there is better places to live than Niagara and I mean to farm it better to make money. If a man has enough money I think it is as good as any other place. If I should make up my mind to travel I should make what I spent as I went, what I has got I intend to keep. Shall not sell my farm until make up my mind to buy somewhere else. Mother had a letter from her sister, Mrs. Daniel Maloney of Osseo, Hillsdale [County, Michigan], be they are all well and send their love to all the friends. I was up to Cambria [Niagara Co., New York] Sunday. All are well. Burt [Christian-1, George-2, Sylvester-3, Burt-4 Howder] is taking Dancing School this winter. Mark [Christian-1, George-2, Sylvester-3, Mark-4 Howder] is staying with his [maternal] Grandfather. Well, George I must close, sending love and all my best wishes. All are well. Hope this will find you the same. Please answer as soon as convenient.

From your cousin,
