"VETERAN AUGUSTA PRINTER. Death of George W. SYLVESTER After Illness of Six Months. -- George W. SYLVESTER, a veteran Augusta printer, died Saturday at his home 33 Gage street, after an illness of about six months with Bright's disease complicated with other ailments. Mr. SYLVESTER was born in Augusta Nov. 4., 1855, and, after a public school education, as a youth of 18 learned the printers trade in the old Standard office, afterwards the New Age, in this city. He was employed in the offices of the Gospel Banner and the Kennebec Journal in this city and several years at the Waterville Mail office in Waterville. He was also employed for a number of years as clerk in the Augusta post office but for the last 12 years was a member of the force of the printing office of A. D. Weeks, where he was considered an efficient and painstaking workman. He was married Oct. 20, 1885, to Mary Elizabeth SMILEY of Riverside, who survives him, together with two children, Philip and Angie, both of this city. He was a member of the Winthrop street Universalist church and also of the Knights of the Maccabees and the A. O. U. W. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday from the late residence, Gage street."
