"DIED. Alfred E. BALLOU war born in Illinois July 5, 1852 and died at a hospital in Creston Friday, April 12, 1918. In 1875 Mr. BALLOU was united in marriage to Miss Mary Adella LEIGH. To this union were born five children, Mrs. D. E. BROWN, of Prescott; Mrs. Clarence IDEN, of E. Las Vegas, New Mexico; Mrs. H. T. CHAPMAN, of Prescott; and Dovie E. and Charles Howard, who died in infancy. He moved to Adams County in 1885. In 1888 occurred the death of Mrs. BALLOU at her home near Mount Zion, north of Prescott. in 1894 Mr. BALLOU was united in marriage to Miss Cora Estella SCHRADER, of Nodaway. They lived near Prescott until 1902 when they moved to Afton. To this union were born two children, Mrs. A. D. FIGGINS, of Rake, Iowa, and Archie Eugene, who has been home with his father. He suffered the loss of his second wife July 16, 1916. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. H. G. BAKER, of Manlila, Iowa, and a half brother, A. S. FASSETT, of St. Paul, Minn. Mr. BALLOU has been in ill health for some time and was taken to Creston hospital, were he passed away. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Chapman, south of Prescott, conducted by Rev. Jasper WEBSTER, pastor of the M. E. church of Prescott. A quartet furnished the music. The burial was made at Mt. Zion cemetery."
