(10) Phelps Family History in America, August 5, 2005. Specific information on Catherine LARSEN obtained from this source include:

- Name (Catherine LARSEN)
- Date and place of birth (24 Oct 1869; Reads Landing, Wabasha Co., MN)
- Date and place of marriage (23 Apr 1887; Esdaille, Pierce, Wisconsin)
- Date and place of passing (31 Jan 1949; Ellsworth, Pierce, Wisconsin)
- The author includes the text of an obituary from the Pierce County Herald, February 3, 1949: "An Ellsworth lady, who through her own personal effort and ability to cope with problems had won the way into the hearts of friends and neighbors, died Monday evening, January 31, 1949. That lady was Mrs. Catherine SCHEIDE, one of our oldest residents. She died 'with her boots on' and I believe that is how she would have liked to have gone to meet her creator. Mrs. SCHEIDE passed away at about 6 o'clock. She had apparently been her usual good health during the day. Her sudden death came as a shock to neighbors who knew her intimately. The funeral will be this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Presbyterian Church with Rev. Melvin STEINBORN officiating. Internment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery. The body will be in state at the church from 2 to 3 o'clock. Catherine LARSEN was born October 24, 1869 at Reeds Landing, Minnesota. She grew up there and later came to Esdaile. She was married to Dr. W. L. SCHEIDE of that village on April 29, 1887. They later moved to Red Wing where he practiced medicine for several years, and then to Ellsworth where he continued his medical work. Dr. SCHEIDE died in 1896, leaving his wife to bring up their two small children, Mabel and Vernon. The former died April 2, 1945. Mrs. SCHEIDE was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Presbyterian Church. We will always remember our old neighbor with a truly great sense of humor. She knew 'what was what'. She was a great worker and not one to be 'waited on'."
