"On January 14, 1865, he [e.d. Thomas WALLER] was married to Helen J. DICKERSON at Almont, and their married life of nearly 53 years has been spent in Lapeer and Tuscola Counties, with the exception of three years in Kansas and Illinois, about 1872 to 1875. To them were born six children, of whom three are living; George P., of Pontiac; Mrs. Maude HARBIN, of Port Hope; and Frank C., of Saginaw. Of the other three, Leslie died in Kansas in 1873; Jessie near Imlay City in 1879; and Lena in Mayville in 1888" [e.d., Lena A. WALLER is buried in the family plot; Lot 520, Fremont Township Cemetery, Tuscola County, Michigan; b. 20 Mar 1882, d. 22 Jun 1888].

"Helen J. (DICKERSON) WALLER was born in Almont, Michigan, December 23rd, 1843, the daughter of Chilon F. and Susanna (HOWDER) DICKERSON. She was one of ten children of whom but two sisters survive, both being past 80 years of age. The family were pioneers in Lapeer County, Almont consisting of but a small group of houses when her parents came there in 1837 from near Lockport, N. Y. She was married to Thomas T. WALLER at Almont, on January 14th 1855. They lived in Lapeer County for about twenty-five years, three years in Kansas, and came to Mayville in 1888. She lived in Mayville from that time until her husband's death in 1917, since which time she has made her home with her son George in Pontiac, and later with a daughter Maude in Port Hope, Michigan. She leaves also a son Frank C., of Lansing, besides seven grand children and seven great grand children. During the years of her life in Mayville, Mrs. WALLER was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and active in its work. In July 1916 she suffered a severe paralytic stroke and has been in failing health since that time. She died at Port Hope on Monday morning 14th instant, age 87 years. Short funeral services where held both in Port Hope and Mayville with interment on the family lot in the Mayville cemetery."
