"MICHAEL SCHNEIDER born 15 Dec 1835 in Horbach, Germany, the son of Egidius and Elizabeth Zerwes Schneider; he arrived in New Orleans in March 1857 after spending 58 days on the ocean. By May 31 of that same year he was in Milwaukee. From there he went to the Lake Superior copper mines until 1865. In Sept 1865 he came to New Cassel, where he opened the first grain elevator, and helped build the first railroad through Campbellsport. He managed Findeisen Elevator for a number of years. He also owned a farm in the town of Auburn, which he left in charge of his sons while he purchased grain in the Dakotas until 1893. In 1907 he traveled the western part of the United States, and in 1912 he visited his homeland of Germany. He married first Elizabeth Scheid Schaub, born 11 Jan. 1838, the eighth child of John Philip and Katherine Weiskepf Scheid, and the widow of Peter Schaub who died on 30 March 1865 while in the military during the civil war. Elizabeth died on 28 Aug 1878, and on 4 Oct 1882 Michael married her niece, Mary Scheid, born 14 May 1854."

Mary Scheid Schneider died 3 Jan. 1903 and Michael died 21 Dec. 1917.

Married Adam Schuck; died 27 July 1946 in Wooster, Ohio.
