This is a section for your Howder family queries (send them to me and I'll post them) or to respond to any for which you may have an interest or additional information. I know of at least TWO examples where this has lead to great success for people who read this page and responded to specific queries.
I no longer post e-mail addresses because spam robots have become very sophisticanted and can read them even if they are presented as graphics rather than as text. Please send me an e-mail message directly and I will forward the appropriate address(es) to you. Make sure you let me know the number of the query that interests you so I can send you the right address. Some of these queries are very old so I don't know if the addresses are still good, but I'll be glad to send you what I have.

This one one I copied directly from GenWeb's Lancaster County Surname Queries for February 1997. The submitter of this query and I have traded e-mail messages on a couple of occasions, but we have not been able to established a connection (yet). Please help him out if you know anything about this family. (6) Houder/Houter/Hauder/Hauter/Howder. Variations of the same name. (7) Haueter. My Haueter group - 4 brothers; Randolph, Christian, Jacob, & Frederick - came from Switzerland to Virginia, then to Carver County, Minnesota, in the 1850's. My Great Grandfather was listed as being from Muntzingen on his Civil War Discharge. His brother, Jacob, went East after the Civil War and we have one document signed by him in Indianapolis, IN, in the 1870's. We have not been able to track him after that and are looking for the trail. Jacob was listed on one census (1860) in Minnesota as Houter and my Great Grandfather was listed on a Carver County Minnesota Ranger (Indian fighter during the Sioux uprising) roster as Houter also. In all other places, including land records, they are Haueter's.
The last query is my long-standing request, Howder. I am interested in any and all Howders who trace their ancestry back to Niagara County, New York throughout the 19th Century. Commonly referenced family members include Adam, Christian, Electa, George, Henry, John, Lewis, Mary, and Sylvester Howder. I am also interested in Howders from the Washington, DC area. A more complete listing can be found in my GEDCOM file, and of course you can reach me through e-mail.
