Reason for Visit: We were visiting Bend, Oregon for eight nights and decided to visit every brewery and brewpub in town, eventually accomplishing every stop on the legendary Bend Ale Trail.
Exterior: Bend Brewing Co. was actually our very first stop on the Bend Ale Trail. It was hard to believe, as we looked at our blank passport and collected our first stamp, that we would actually complete the trail a few days later. Bend Brewing was a welcome refuge from the summertime heat. We ducked in here to take a break from a street festival that was happening just down the street that day in Old Bend. This was a great place to grab a sampler and a snack before rejoining the festivities. One brewery down and nine more to go!
Interior: It's an interesting layout. Walking into the entrance to Bend Brewing didn't convey the sense of space until one enters the bar and dining area. Here the space opens up to an industrial-sized room with double-high ceilings. The brewery plant is actually kept above the front of the building over the entrance and can be seen through the windows on the upper portion of this photograph. Notice also all of the bling on the wall. Bend Brewing Co. has won a slew of medals at the Great American Beer Festival, the World Beer Cup and other competitions. That's a good indicator of the quality to expect here.
Coaster: I collected a decent coaster at Bend Brewing. It's a circular three-color design. A hop vine and a pair of cones grace the lower-middle portion in a horizontal configuration. The name of the brewery itself takes center-stage in white lettering outlined in black; above and below is their motto in all lowercase lettering, locally brewed / world class; the central logo is all presented upon a brown background. The circular framing edge contains the names of their various beers and their website address in light brown lettering on a tan border strip. |
