"JUDGE T. F. HULL PASSES AWAY. Our city was grieved when the news spread last Wednesday afternoon of the sudden death of Judge Thos. F. HULL. He had been feeling badly for several weeks but not confined to his bed, so his death was a shock to our people. We feel than no man whose residence has been in Carthage had more interest in the upbuilding of the town and county than did Judge HULL. He is said to have made the only abstract of Panola County, he served the county as Sheriff when a young man, in later years he held the office of County Judge and County Superintendent for four years. He was a progressive farmer exemplifying the possibilities of truck farming in Panola County by a farm just south of Carthage. He was a man that took an interest in every public enterprise, he had a kind word for every one whom he met, he was a man of intellect and held dear the memories of by-gone days, imparting to others the progress that our state and country has undergone under prosperity and under difficulties as well. Judge HULL was a neighbor and a friend, a loyal member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, an honored citizen, a faithful husband and a father. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Sept. 30, at the Odd Fellow Cemetery, Rev. George C. HENRY and Rev. Z. R. FEE conducting the services with the Odd Fellow Lodge of which he was a charter member concluding the service and the remains there laid to rest. Thomas Fulton HULL, the son of Edwin Sealy HULL and Sarah Young HULL, was born March 18, 1848 in Marion, North Carolina. He came to Texas when ten years of age. In young manhood he attended Austin Academy in Huntsville and Looney Institute in Gilmer. He studied law and was admitted to the bar of Carthage in 1871. He was married to Miss. Clara M. ROSS on January 7, 1873 who died Feb. 20, 1901. To them were born five children, a daughter who died in infancy and four sons, Jno. R. HULL, Marvin R. HULL, Willey F. HULL who died August 26, 1900, and Corry F. HULL . He was married the second time to Mrs. Ada HULL. He died Sept. 29 in Carthage."
