Notes

Updated December 8, 2023. Compiled by Howder (www.howderfamily.com) from the following source(s):

(1) 1850 United States Census Wisconsin, Fond du Lac Co., the Town of Ashford, District No. 9, Page 113; November 20, 1850.

There is probably a typo in this record. John Phillip SCHEID is as head of household but married to Elizabeth SCHEID (?) -- Everything else seems to match with Marie Catharina WEISSKOPF. Children in the household are Christopher, Jerrod, Catharin, and Elizabeth.

(2) 1860 United States Census Wisconsin, Fond du Lac Co., Ashford Twp., Ashford Post Office: Page 38; June 21, 1860.

Catherine [WEISSKOPF] SCHEID is married to (John) Phillip SCHEID. She is 64 years old and born in Darmstadt. The household includes her son Jacob and daughter-in-law Catherine, and grandchildren Jacob, Elizabeth and Peter.

(4) Phelps Family History in America, August 5, 2005. Specific information on Marie Catharina WEISSKOPF obtained from this source include:

- Name (Maria Catharina WEISSKOPF).
- Date and place of birth (13 Mar 1796; Eichloch, Rhineland, Germany).
- Date and place of marriage (16 Feb 1820; Eichloch, Rhineland, Germany).
- Date and place of passing (21 May 1863; Wayne, Washington, Wisconsin).
- "Maria's sponsors were: Maria Ottilie WEISSKOPF and Maria Cath. LUMBIN and she was baptized on March 16, 1796. Katherine is buried with her daughter, Katherine in a single grave in Wayne, WI. She died only a few hours before her daughter did, of what [the author does]... not know. The grave is about 1/4 mile east of the cemetery in the brambles on top of a big hill and is surrounded by only two or three other graves. Originally, when [the author]... first saw it, the stone was lying on its side but since then someone has placed it upright again. So far, [the author has]... no idea what mother and daughter died of because they died within just a few hours of each other."
