"JAMES BROWN of Swansea, son of John and Dorothy, married Lydia the daughter of John and Elizabeth (TILLEY) HOWLAND. The will of Elizabeth HOWLAND, printed in our third volume, mentions her daughter Lydia BROWN and her son-in-law James BROWN, also her grandchildren James BROWN, Jabez BROWN and Dorothy KENT, and the Swansea records show that Dorothy had married Joseph KENT, Jr., on 12 November 1690. James BROWN's will was made 25 October, 1694, and allowed 11 January, 1710/11. The inventory gives the date of his death as 29 October, 1710. The will and inventory were entered in the Bristol County Probate Records, Volume III, pages 6, 7 and 8. The original inventory and the bond of the executix are still preserved in the files and have been used in making the transcripts for the printer."
