I have visited Sunriver Brewing Company,
in Sunriver, Deschutes Co., Oregon, USA.

Reason for Visit: We were visiting Bend, Oregon for eight nights and decided to visit every brewery and brewpub in town, eventually accomplishing every stop on the legendary Bend Ale Trail Sunriver wasn't actually an official part of the Bend Ale Trail so we considered it a bonus location.

Exterior: Sunriver is a planned community south of Bend. It's the equal-and-opposite of Bend; everything that Bend is, Sunriver is not, and vice versa. It's new, pristine, suburban, a little tamer, and all is managed tightly as part of the Sunriver Resort and the owners who have property there. Standards must be maintained and appearances kept. Not surprisingly, Sunriver Brewing took on the appearance of a well-appointed lodge in the midst of an outdoor shopping center like one can find in many emerging exurbs around the country. |

Interior: The theme carried forward to the interior. Sunriver Brewing had opened only recently prior to our arrival in the area. It was an unplanned stop -- we hadn't known it existed prior to our arrival in Bend -- so we took it in stride and managed our expectations. |

Sampler: The weather was perfect so we opted to sit outside on the patio for lunch and a sampler set so we could try a variety of the Sunriver brews. It seemed kind of strange sitting out there with pedestrian walking all around us, near entrances to other businesses in the shopping center. I had a beer. I didn't pay it any mind. |
