Brewery/Brewpub Location Map
- Follow this link for a map of all the breweries and brewpubs I have visited.
Reason for Visit: When I visited Williamsville Brewery it was located inside the Kings Dominion amusement park, a few miles north of Richmond, VA. The brewery shared space with a fast-food Mexican restaurant along the promenade just inside the main entrance. You could get a burrito served on a Styrofoam plate along with a plastic cup of Williamsville beer, all set on a typical fast food tray that you carried back to your table surrounded by hot, sweaty tourists. I stopped ridding the rides and spent most of the rest of the day trying each of the different beers. It was surely the most unusual setting for any of the brewpubs I've ever visited.
Front of Coaster. The front of this circular Williamsville Brewery coaster for their Apple & Ale features a multi-color design bound by concentric borders. The central image features a close-up of two red apples set among rolling green hills. The background is formed by a blue sky streaked white either by parallel-forming clouds or airplane contrails. The boarder band beyond this is beaded with the image of small apples, either whole, cut in half, or cut into quarters. A red band forms the outer border.
Back of Coaster. The back of each coaster is basically the same except in a different color scheme and with a different aphorism. This one says "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" at the very center of the coaster, superimposed over a faint watermark-like logo of the brewery which features crossed muskets over a barley stalk wreath. A boarder band immediately surrounding this image is made to appear as if the condensation from the base of a pint glass has soaked into the coaster. At the very bottom in an upward arcing print appears the slogan, "greet beer brewed by beer nuts."
Front of Coaster. The name of the beer for this coaster, Border Porter, arcs across the center. It is superimposed over an antique map of eastern Virginia. The coaster includes a website URL which appears to now be out of service. The aphorism on the back of the coaster says "make a run for the porter."
Front of Coaster. Cabo Pale Ale arcs across the bottom of the coaster. The background image is a two-story colonial style home with an angled roof and five windows going across the front of the home. There appears to be a portico at the doorway entrance. The aphorism on the back of the coaster says "what the hell's a cabo?"
Front of Coaster. Amelia Ale arcs across the bottom of the coaster. It is superimposed across the base of a white, weatherbeaten lighthouse growing up from a base a shrubbery. It is a picture-perfect blue sky. The aphorism on the back of the coaster says "another Amelia turned up here."
Front of Coaster. Studley Ale arcs across the central portion of this Williamsville Brewery coaster. The background image is a young man dressed in what appears to be a Revolutionary War uniform. He holds a musket to one side. The aphorism on the back of the coaster says "where's studley" but I think the first question to answer -- and maybe one of you can help -- is who's Studley? |
