I have visited Denali Brewing Co.,
in Talkeetna, Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska, USA.

Reason for Visit: We were in Alaska on vacation for a couple of weeks. While we spent most of our time in Anchorage and on the Kenai Peninsula, we headed up north for a couple of days hoping to catch a glimpse of Denali (Mt. McKinley). We never saw the famous peak but we still had a great time in Talkeetna.

Exterior: Talkeetna isn't a large town by any means but the Denali Brewing Co. is located prominently on its compact Main Street. There is a small tasting room with a few tables and couches on one side of the building where the brewing equipment is located. The larger part of the structure is filled by its companion business, the Twister Creek Restaurant. It's a nice oasis of good beer in a small rural town at least a couple of hours away from the nearest city. |

Sampler: We began at the tasting room by requesting a sampler. They were a generous pour served on a wooden paddle. The varieties includes a Stout, and India Pale Ale, a Red and a Golden Ale. We sat in the tasting room and enjoyed looking at the hops vines and watching people dodge raindrops on Main Street. |

Growler: We took a growler of the Stout with us but we didn't get a chance to enjoy it outdoors like we had at other brewpubs during our Alaska vacation. Notice the rain on the window behind the growler. Allegedly we were close enough to Denali to get an amazing view. Unfortunately the only time we spotted Denali was on the artwork on the growler. Besides the mountains, the growler notes the name of the brewery and its location in Talkeetna, Alaska. |

Apparel: We also got a nice long-sleeve shirt for the Twister Creek IPA. The actual Twister Creek winds its way along the eastern edge of Talkeetna, dumping into the Susitna River just south of town. |

Equipment: This is pretty much the complete brewing operation for Denali Brewing. It's a small but suitable brewery for a small town in an isolated location. We noticed several other Alaskan breweries and brewpubs of approximately the same size. There were lots of them offering lots of choices, with a very local clientele. |
